I have been designing pieces of “my art” for as long as I can remember, whether it be the original patterns for my own clothing, the faux finishes to paint on my walls and furniture, the jewelry that I give as gifts or love to wear, or the sets that we use to photograph my authors’ work. I believe that you should always surround yourself with that which you love - gifts that have been given to you from the hand and heart of a friend, or favorite pieces bought on a special trip that needs to be remembered. There should be no room in your life for things that contain no elements of what you consider “art” or have no meaning or memories. Looking at your favorite pieces, whether created by you or someone else, should bring great joy and be like leafing through the photos in your scrapbook. For me, art can turn joy and sorrow into a celebration of life and love.
